- Invalid Payment Type for RMBS
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
R07 means the payment type on a Reciprocal Medical Billing claim is invalid. RMB claims must be paid to the provider (payee P).
What it means
Error R07 is the Ministry's "Invalid Payment Type for RMBS". The Reciprocal Medical Billing (RMB) claim was rejected because of its payment details.
For RMB claims, the Ministry's claims manual says the payment program must be RMB and the payee must be P (pay provider).
Common causes
- The payee was set to something other than P
- The claim's payment program and payee fields don't match
How to fix it
- Set the payment program to RMB and the payee to P.
- Check the RMB patient fields against the patient's card: the two-letter province code, the registration number from the home province, date of birth, surname, first name and sex. The payment program must be RMB and the payee must be P (pay provider).
- Resubmit the claim within three months of the service date if you can. If that window has passed but the claim was first submitted on time, use the Ministry's stale-dated resubmission process.
