TM8 — Not eligible for store-forward

Not eligible for store-and-forward

The claim was billed as store-and-forward telemedicine, but the service or provider wasn't eligible for it.

What to do: Check how the service was delivered; from December 2022, bill virtual visits with the Appendix J code plus K300A or K301A.

Code
TM8
Description
Not eligible for store-forward

Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

The service isn't eligible to be billed as store-and-forward. Check the fee code and how the service was delivered.

What it means

TM8 ("Not eligible for Store Forward") means the claim was billed as a store-and-forward telemedicine service (information sent for later review rather than a live visit) but the service or provider wasn't eligible for it.

TM codes belong to the Ministry's telemedicine error codes (ET1 to ET5 and TM1 to TM8), which were tied to the former telemedicine program. For services on or after December 1, 2022, the virtual care funding framework replaced it: the 'OTN' service location indicator was discontinued (claims using it reject with V73) and OVCP/telemedicine B-prefix codes reject with A3E. Virtual care is now billed with the in-person code plus the K300A (video) or K301A (telephone) modality indicator, or A101A/A102A for limited virtual care.

Common causes

  • The fee code is not payable as store-and-forward
  • The provider wasn't set up for store-and-forward billing
  • The claim was flagged as store-and-forward by mistake

How to fix it

  1. Check the fee code and how the service was actually delivered.
  2. If it was a live visit, correct the claim. If the service date is on or after December 1, 2022, bill it under the virtual care rules instead: the Appendix J code plus K300A or K301A, or A101A/A102A, with no OTN service location indicator.
  3. If it was store-and-forward and not eligible, it can't be paid that way.

Don't resubmit if

  • The service is not eligible for store-and-forward and wasn't delivered another way.
