Error code

X2 — GI tract exam includes cine and video tape

Included in the GI exam

The cine or videotape study wasn't paid separately because the GI tract exam paid on this claim already includes it.

What to do: Nothing to do if the study was routine; bill X106 with an upper GI exam only when specifically indicated.

X2
Description
GI tract exam includes cine and video tape

Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

OHIP didn't pay the cine/videotape study separately because the GI tract exam includes it. Usually no action.

What it means

Code X2 means the gastrointestinal (GI) tract exam paid on this claim includes cine and video tape, so a separate cine or videotape study was not paid.

The Schedule lists palatopharyngeal analysis (X105) and pharynx and oesophagus (X106) by cine or videotape. It says X106 should not be claimed routinely with X108 or X109, but only when specifically indicated (Schedule D3, D11).

Common causes

  • X105 or X106 billed with an upper GI exam such as X108 or X109 on the same day

How to fix it

  1. Check the GI exam paid for the same patient and date.
  2. If the cine or videotape study was routine, there is nothing to fix.
  3. If it was specifically indicated and done as a separate study, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details.

Don't resubmit if

  • You disagree with how a claim already on the RA was paid. Use an RAI, not a new claim.
