Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
Routine follow-up visit by an endocrinologist to a hospital in-patient during the first five weeks after admission.
What it covers
A subsequent visit is any routine assessment in hospital after the admission assessment (GP43). C152 is for visits in the first five weeks after admission; C157 covers weeks 6 to 13 and C159 after week 13 (A102).
Attending surgery at the patient's request without assisting, and each physician's visit in multidisciplinary care, also count as subsequent visits (GP43).
Billing rules
- One subsequent visit per patient per day in the first 5 weeks after admission; extra visits aren't payable (GP43).
- If the patient was referred to you in hospital, count from the date you first assessed them; if care was transferred to you, count from the actual admission date (GP43).
- The MRP bills C122 and C123 for the first and second days after admission and C124 or C126 on the day of discharge instead of C152 (A102, GP44, GP45).
- Seeing another physician's patient on an emergency basis is billed under the General Listings (A-prefix), not as a subsequent visit (GP43).
- Detention (K001) is only payable after 30 minutes (GP30).
- Not on the virtual care list, so not payable by video or phone (Appendix J).
Often billed with
- E083 MRP subsequent visit premium (+30%), or E084 (+45%) on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays; one per patient per day (GP47).
Common rejections
- AM1: Only one subsequent visit per patient per day is payable in the first five weeks after admission (GP43).
