Explanation

A neurologist's routine hospital visit after the admission assessment, during the first five weeks of the stay.
What it covers
A subsequent visit is any routine assessment in hospital after the hospital admission assessment (GP43).
C182 covers the first five weeks after admission. Later weeks use C187 (weeks 6–13) and C189 (after week 13) (A144).
Billing rules
- Limited to 1 per patient per day for the first 5 weeks after admission; extra visits are not payable (GP43).
- If the patient was referred to you in hospital, count weeks from the date you first assessed them. If care was transferred to you, count from the actual admission date (GP43).
- Seeing your own or a transferred patient while already in hospital is a subsequent visit. Seeing another physician's patient on an emergency basis uses the A-prefix General Listings (GP43).
- As the MRP, add E083 (+30%), or E084 (+45%) on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (Neurology is an eligible specialty). Only one of E083/E084 per patient per day, and only if you meet the hospital-remuneration condition (GP47).
- As the MRP, the day after admission, the second day after admission and the discharge day have their own codes: C122, C123 and C124 (GP44–GP45, A144).
Often billed with
- E083 MRP subsequent visit premium, or E084 on weekends and holidays (GP47).
Common rejections
- AT4: OHIP describes this as 'Modality Not Allowed': this code is not on the Appendix J virtual care list, so it can't be billed with K300A or K301A (Appendix J).
