Explanation

First admission assessment by a family physician on the hospital's on-call roster, for a non-elective admission where they become MRP.
What it covers
The on-call admission assessment is the first in-patient admission general assessment per patient per 30 days when the physician is a GP/FP on the hospital's on-call roster (whether or not on call that day), the admission is non-elective, and the physician is the MRP for in-patient care (A7). C933 is subject to the same conditions as A933 (A12).
A general assessment needs a full history and an exam of all body parts and systems (GP21).
Billing rules
- Any further on-call admission assessment by the same physician for the same patient in the same 30 days is paid as a general re-assessment (A7).
- Not payable for an elective surgery admission if you did a pre-operative assessment within 30 days (GP41).
- Only one consultation or assessment is payable per admission when the patient is transferred between physicians in the same hospital (GP40).
- Add E082 when you are the MRP and did the admission assessment (GP42).
- Qualifies for the automatic hospitalist premium for eligible physicians (GP103).
- FHO: counts toward the hospital services special payment (Agreement Schedule 3, p.90; §8.5, p.66). In-patient services to enrolled patients are paid full fee-for-service (Agreement p.64 §7.2).
