Phone advice by the most responsible physician about a palliative patient at home, per call. Max 2 a week; not the same day as your own visit.
What it covers
G511 is medical advice, direction or information given by phone at the request of the patient, a relative, the patient's representative or another caregiver, about a patient receiving palliative care at home (J101). Home includes the home of a family member or other person the patient lives with (J101), and places such as retirement homes, but not a hospital or long-term care institution (GP4).
Palliative care is care of a terminally ill patient in the final year of life, where the decision has been made not to treat the underlying disease aggressively and care is directed at comfort until death (GP5).
Billing rules
- You must give the advice personally and record a dated summary of the call in the chart, or it isn't payable (J101).
