Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

Fee for reviewing a FIT colorectal screening result and telling the patient. Once per patient every two years; eligibility depends on model.

What it covers

Q152A is the colorectal cancer screening test completion fee, billed once the physician has reviewed the patient's FIT result and communicated it to the patient (OMA Q-codes guide p.14; Agreement p.72 §11.5).

Appendix Q is information only, not part of the Schedule (AQ1). The rules below come from the 2020 OMA Q-codes guide and, for FHO physicians, the April 2026 FHO agreement (FHO+ terms from April 1, 2026).

Billing rules

  • Once per patient every two years (AQ4; OMA Q-codes guide p.14); the FHO agreement says once per 730-day period (Agreement p.72 §11.5).
  • After a negative colonoscopy (no polyps, or only hyperplastic polyps in the sigmoid or rectum), not again for 10 years unless earlier screening is clinically indicated (AQ4).
  • Appendix Q and the OMA guide: physicians in patient enrolment models who are eligible for the Preventive Care Bonus can't bill it. FHG and CCM physicians can if their roster is under 650 enrolled patients, or under 450 for new graduates. Family physicians outside enrolment models can bill it (AQ4; OMA Q-codes guide p.14).
  • The April 2026 FHO agreement lists Q152A as payable to FHO physicians for patients in the screening age group (Agreement p.72 §11.5). This differs from AQ4; check your remittance advice.
  • Minimum requirements are in INFOBulletin 4723 (AQ4).
  • Appendix Q's virtual care table lists Q152A for all GP physicians with eligible comprehensive virtual services (AQ11).

Often billed with

  • Q150A earlier, when the FIT was ordered (AQ4; OMA Q-codes guide p.13–14).

Common rejections

  • AT3: Q152A can go on a comprehensive virtual care claim (AQ11), and AT3 means OHIP found no existing patient-physician relationship for that virtual claim on the service date.
  • EH2: The health card version code on the claim doesn't match OHIP's record for the patient; get the current version code and resubmit.
