Code
EF1
Description
ICHSC not approved to bill on service date

Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

EF1 means the ICHSC number on the claim wasn't approved to bill on the service date. Check the facility number and date.

What it means

EF1 is one of the Ministry's ICHSC error codes. It means the Integrated Community Health Services Centre (ICHSC) number on the claim was not approved for billing on the service date, so the claim was rejected.

An ICHSC is an Integrated Community Health Services Centre under the Integrated Community Health Services Centres Act, 2023 (Schedule page GP4).

Common causes

  • A typing error in the ICHSC number
  • The service date is before the facility's approval started or after it ended
  • The wrong service date on the claim

How to fix it

  1. Check the ICHSC number and the service date on the claim.
  2. Confirm with the facility that it was approved to bill on that date.
  3. Correct the claim and resubmit it. Resubmit within three months of the service date if you can. If that window has passed but the claim was first submitted on time, use the Ministry's stale-dated resubmission process.

Don't resubmit if

  • The facility wasn't approved to bill on the service date.
