- Description
- ICHSC not licensed to bill this fee code on service date
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
EF2 means the ICHSC wasn't licensed or grandfathered to bill this fee code on the service date. Check the facility's licence.
What it means
EF2 means the Integrated Community Health Services Centre (ICHSC) on the claim was not licensed, or grandfathered, to bill this fee schedule code on the service date. Each ICHSC can bill only the services it is licensed for.
A related Remittance Advice message is I3 (fee code not on the facility's licence profile).
Common causes
- The fee code isn't on the facility's licence for that date
- The wrong fee code was billed
- The wrong ICHSC number or service date was used
How to fix it
- Check the fee code, ICHSC number and service date on the claim.
- Confirm with the facility which services it was licensed to bill on that date.
- If the fee code was wrong, correct it and resubmit. Resubmit within three months of the service date if you can. If that window has passed but the claim was first submitted on time, use the Ministry's stale-dated resubmission process.
Don't resubmit if
- The facility wasn't licensed for this fee code on the service date.
