Error code
I5 — Globally funded, and fee code not on IHF licence
Covered by facility funding
The service is paid through a facility's global budget and the fee code isn't on its licence profile, so it isn't paid fee-for-service.
What to do: Confirm where the service was done and whether that facility's funding covers it.
- Code
- I5
- Description
- Globally funded, and fee code not on IHF licence
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
I5 means the service is covered by global (facility) funding and the fee code isn't on the facility's licence profile, so it isn't paid fee-for-service.
What it means
I5 combines two problems. The service is globally funded, meaning it is paid through a facility's budget rather than by fee-for-service. And the fee code is not on the Independent Health Facility (IHF) licence profile for that date.
IHFs are now called Integrated Community Health Services Centres (ICHSCs). Either way, OHIP will not pay this line as billed.
Common causes
- The service was done in a facility whose funding already covers it
- The fee code billed is not one the facility is licensed for on that service date
- The wrong fee code or service location was used
How to fix it
- Confirm where the service was done and whether that facility's funding covers it.
- Check that the fee code matches the service and, for ICHSC services, that it is on the facility's licence for the service date.
- If the service is covered by facility funding, there is nothing to bill to OHIP.
- If you believe the decision is wrong, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details.
Don't resubmit if
- The service is covered by the facility's global funding.
- The line is already on your RA. Question it with an RAI, not a new claim.
