Add-on to cystoscopy for unilateral brush biopsy of the renal pelvis and/or ureter, and/or transurethral bladder biopsy.

What it covers

E776 is added to a cystoscopy when a unilateral brush biopsy of the renal pelvis and/or ureter, and/or a transurethral bladder biopsy, is done (T7).

A bladder biopsy under general anaesthetic is a separate add-on, E824 (T7).

Billing rules

• Add-on to cystoscopy (Z606 or Z607) (T7).
• Bladder 'E' add-ons are payable with any S or Z code under the Bladder heading, or with Z626 or Z628, unless noted otherwise (T6).
• Age premium of 10–30% for patients under 16 (GP64).

Common rejections

• AD8: OHIP describes this as 'Not allowed alone': this add-on must be billed on the same claim as its base procedure, such as Z606 (T6, T7).
• ADF: OHIP describes this as 'Corresponding Procedure Invalid, Omitted or Paid at zero': the base procedure (Z606) was missing, invalid or paid at zero, so the add-on can't be paid.
