How to bill it

Bill G370A for the first site and G371A for each additional site, up to 5 (J53).

In the office, add E542A to the G370A line (J53).

If the injection was the only reason for the visit, add G700A. If you also assessed the patient and bill an assessment, leave G700A off; the procedure is paid in addition to the assessment (J3).

If you aspirate a complex joint or a bursa, bill G328A (and G329A for extra complex joints) instead of G370A for that joint. G328/G329 aren't for injection alone (J53).

Billing rules

  • Only one of G370, G371, G328 and G329 is payable for the same bursa, joint or complex joint (J53).

  • G370 is marked (+): add G700 when it is the sole reason for the visit (J3, J53).
  • FHO: G370 and G371 are core services and Schedule 4 office procedures for the office procedures special payment (Agreement p.67 §8.7, p.77, p.93).
