How to bill it

Under 20 minutes, bill the visit code you provided (for example A007A, or A900A on a home visit to a frail or housebound patient). At 20 minutes or more of palliative support, bill K023A units instead of the visit (A2; OMA palliative guide pp.5–7).

At home, add B966A for travel and B998A for the first patient (B997A between midnight and 07:00). There are no maximums, and B998A doesn't need you to leave scheduled office hours (GP76).

Each week you're the most responsible physician, bill G512A once. In that week, G511, K071 and K072 aren't payable to anyone, but visits and K023 still are (J102).

In hospital, palliative visits by the most responsible physician are C882A ($40.05); in long-term care, W872A or W882A ($40.05) (A13, A19).

  • K023 units: 1 unit at least 20 minutes, 2 at 46, 3 at 76, 4 at 106. Record start and stop times or it's paid at a lesser fee (A2, GP55).
