- EQC
- Description
- Group not registered
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
EQC means the group number on the claim isn't registered with the Ministry. Check the group number and resubmit.
What it means
EQC means the group billing number on the claim is not registered with the Ministry, so the claim was rejected.
Common causes
- A typing error in the group number
- A clinic or internal number entered instead of the Ministry group number
- A new group whose registration was not complete
How to fix it
- Check the group number on the claim against your Ministry registration.
- Correct the group number, or bill solo if you were not billing through a group.
- If the group's registration is still being set up, wait until it is confirmed.
- Resubmit the corrected claim within three months of the service date. If that window has passed but the claim was first submitted on time, use the Ministry's stale-dated resubmission process.
Don't resubmit if
- The group is not yet registered.
