Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

Each IM, subcutaneous or intradermal injection given at a visit where another service is billed, or each extra injection after G373.

What it covers

G372 pays for an intramuscular, subcutaneous or intradermal injection. It is billed once per injection when the injection is given at a visit where another insured service, such as an assessment, is also billed. It is also the code for each additional injection after the first one on a visit where the injection is the sole reason, which is billed as G373 (J54).

The listing includes interpretation (J54). Vaccines are listed separately under Immunization on the same page (G840–G849, G538, G590, G593).

Billing rules

  • Bill one G372 for each injection given at a visit with another paid service (J54).
  • When the injection is the only reason for the visit, bill the first injection as G373 and each further injection as G372 (J54).
  • Not insured for vitamin injections given to help with weight loss (J54).
  • G372 is not marked (+), so the G700 sole-visit premium does not apply (J3, J54).
  • May be delegated to a trained employee in your office, even when you are not on site, for your own patient; the chart must be dated and name who gave the injection (GP62–GP63).
  • Payable on the same day as a counselling service by the same physician (GP58).
  • For a nursing home or home for the aged patient under W010 monthly management, injections by any physician that month are included in W010 (GP51).
  • FHO: a Schedule 2 core (in-basket) service (Agreement p.77).

Often billed with

  • A001, A007 or another assessment when the injection is given during a regular visit (A4, J3).
  • G373 for the first injection when injections are the sole reason for the visit (J54).

Common rejections

  • EH2: The health card version code on the claim doesn't match OHIP's record, often because the patient has a newer card; get the current version code and resubmit.
  • A3H: The line billed more services than OHIP's fee schedule master allows; check that one G372 is billed per injection actually given and that the count wasn't keyed wrong.
  • VJ7: OHIP received the claim more than three months after the service date, so it was rejected as stale-dated (GP9).
  • EQE: The physician isn't registered with the Ministry as a member of the group whose number was on the claim for that service date.
  • VH8: The date of birth on the claim doesn't match OHIP's record for that health number; correct it and resubmit.
